Don’t Miss Out on the Texas Tournament in March!

That’s right folks, it’s that time of the year again! The 2017 Lonestar Invitation Floorball Tournament (LIFT) is fast approaching, and will be held for the third time in Arlington, TX on March 11.

This very popular event in brings in teams from all over the great state of Texas, and several players are bringing their experience from playing on Team USA. This tournament hosted by the Texas Floorball Association, will be a one day event of 4v4 Floorball. USA Floorball certified referees will be managing every game with head of USA Floorball director Vince Faso onsite.

The development of Floorball in Texas is rapidly growing, with players taking on new challenges and developing new skills every year. Will the defending champions Austin FC be able to keep their title this year? Or will someone else take home the LIFT gold medal? Who knows! But as Abraham Lincoln said “the best way to predict the future, is to create it.” Hope to see you all there!

Games are played 12 min x 2 periods in group play (15 min in playoffs). All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 4 games.

Tournament Start Time:
About 8am. Team Managers and referees are required to show up no later than 30 min before the start of the first game and submit as needed
Each game consist of Two fifteen minute periods (2×15 min) with a 2 minute Intermission.

Tournament specific Rules:
Games will be played according to the International Floorball Federation(IFF) rule book.
Exceptions to the IFF rule book are detailed by the referees at game time.
Each game will have 2 USA Floorball certified referees.
Each team is allowed 4 players and 1 goalie on the rink at a time.
The size of the court have been modified to 4 on 4 games.
Time Out:
Each team has one 30 second timeout per game. All games are played with running time.
Time is stopped only when:
1. If the referee directs time to be stopped.
2. At stoppage of play during the last 2 minutes if the score is within 2 goals.
3. A goal is scored
Tournament Layout:
Round Robin and play off. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 5 games.
Round Robin:
Each game is worth 2 points.
If tied at full-time each team get 1 point.
Play-off may consist of quarter finals, semi finals, a 3rd place game and a final.
Final play-off format will be decided when the number of teams attending is known.
If a play-off game is tied at full-time a 5 minute sudden death period will take place immediately.
If still tied after the 5 minute sudden death period a shoot out will follow to determine the winner.
Shoot out will include 3 opportunities per team, followed by 1 opportunity per team until a winner is decided.
