USA Floorball is pleased to announce that Kenton Walker has been appointed to the position of MU19 Team USA General Manager.

“Kenton Walker has been a devoted floorball player and floorball-dad to his four kids for a long time, with Faith (15) having been a reserve player on the WU19 team in 2018 in Switzerland. He has been instrumental in growing floorball in the state of Utah,” says USA Floorball president Calle Karlsson.

Working as Senior Legal Counsel at a Fortune 500 tech company has given Kenton Walker experience that makes him more than qualified when it comes to managing any resources, especially something as   invaluable as a U19 National team.

“I have confidence that Kenton will apply his experience and professionalism to any task that he has to tackle. He’s already dedicated to the team, having his own son as one of the potential players. I think we are extremely lucky to have Kenton as the MU19 General Manager until 2020,” Calle Karlsson says.

The reason for Kenton Walker accepting the GM position is simple, he is passionate about floorball and sees the national teams as a big part of boosting the growth of floorball in the states.

“I believe an important part of building a solid foundation for the future growth of floorball in the U.S. is to raise the level of play of the national teams. If our national teams are competitive at the international level, then excitement, energy and participation at the grass roots level of floorball throughout the U.S. will grow, particularly as the players return home to be leaders in their local clubs,” says Kenton Walker.

There are already big plans ahead for the Men’s U19. Development teams will be formed at the coming Golden Gate Cup and at the end of the year potentially also the Storvretacup in Sweden.

“All players who will be ages 15-18 next May and who are interested in being considered for the national team are encouraged to play on the MU19 developmental team at the Golden Gate Cup in November. For interested players in Europe or who are able to travel to Sweden in late December, a MU19 development team will likely participate in the Storvretcup in Uppsala, Sweden, which is the largest youth floorball tournament in the world,” says Kenton Walker.

If you are interested in joining the MU19 at either the Golden Gate Cup and/or the Storvretacup or have a general interest in the MU19 national team please email kenton.walker@usfba.org.
