Team USA Secure the 5th Place at the World Games!

After a dramatic game Team USA where able to take the 5th place at the World Games in Wroclaw by beating host nation Poland 1-4 in front of an intense crowd.

Both teams came out strong and created several chances in the opening minutes. Keven Glanzmann in the US goal had to be sharp early to keep the Polish team off the board. This helped Team USA take the lead with their first goal of the tournament. Mattias Hansen was able to give the US the lead on the powerplay with a nifty goal after about ten minutes of the first.

Sixteen seconds after USA took the lead Maurin Ruegg got the ball up close and was able to find the top corner, 0-2. With only a few minutes left of the first Jakub Lyskawa was able to bring Poland within one as he scored on a delayed penalty, 1-2.

In the beginning of the second period Alexander McVey was given a five-minute penalty but the US box play skills stood up to the test. There where no goals scored in the second and instead team USA made it 1-3 in the beginning of the third with a powerplay goal by Alexander McVey.

Towards the end of the period the Polish team push hard but Glanzmann and team USA stand tall. With Poland playing with an empty net Mikko Vähä-Vahe is able to secure the win in front of a crazed crowd.

The win mean team USA take home the 5th place at the World Games in Wroclaw.
