Chicago Blackhawks Provide Floorball Sticks to Hundreds of Schools

Updated: April 16, 2021

The Chicago Blackhawks, sponsors of the US Men’s U19 team, continue to support floorball and have now provided sticks and balls to over 300 schools in Chicago.

In cooperation with Floorball Chicago and the Chicago Dogs Floorball Club the Chicago Blackhawks have provided floorball sticks and balls to over 300 schools in Chicago. While this is short of the 500-750 school goal they set, it is great progress given COVID.

The Chicago Dogs are now working together with the Blackhawks to get many of these kids into their floorball youth camps and tournaments. The kids are excited about the tournaments and for many it is a goal to be able to play in them.

“We are so thrilled that the Chicago Blackhawks are enthused about the game of floorball and are doing such a wonderful job of introducing floorball to hundreds of schools in the Chicago area. Providing sticks, balls, nets, et cetera is allowing a tremendous number of kids to be exposed to floorball and learn what a fun, fast game it is.” Says Keene Addington of the Floorball Chicago/Chicago Dogs

While all NHL teams are watching their expenses as their revenues are drastically down, the Chicago Blackhawks do understand that growing the game of floorball in Chicago will help grow their fan base. The Blackhawks also like floorball because of the low cost of entry to the sport, the fact you can play almost anywhere, like parking lots, gyms, turf fields and more. They also like the fact that the sticks are light, which reduces the risk of injuries.
