USA Fall in Dramatic Second Game Against Iceland

USA Fall in Dramatic Second Game Against Iceland

Adam Troy

Team USA fell 4-5 to Iceland in a dramatic penalty shoot out to finish off the men's team training camp in Reykjavik.

The second game against the home nation was much different from the first. The first period was tight with both teams creating chances before Janik Guntert blasted in 1-0 from far out. But Kristofer Ronnlund made sure the game was tied after the first.

Under two minutes into the second Iceland's Kristofer Ronnlund striked again and gave Iceland the lead on the power play. Janik Guntert would counter with a second goal of his own keeping the game tied after two.

In the third Andreas Stefansson would get on the board in box play. But the momentum was with team USA and Reed Hearns made it evening with a kanon from the point, 3-3. The period also saw an amazing save by Jonathan Mooney keeping team USA in the game.

With the score even the game went to penalty shots where Eric Dickelman scored the lone US goal while Iceland netted two.

So a team USA loss by 4-5, or 3-4 as the official score will stand.

Keep an eye on the USA Floorball website for more information about the US men's national team as we look to towards the World Floorball Championships in 2020 and the World Games in 2021.
