Supporting the growth of Floorball in the United States.

U19 Men’s

Welcome to the Men’s U19 homepage!

USA Floorball is gearing up for the next Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships (WFC) in 2021!  The location and specific dates are yet to be announced, but the tournament will be held in Europe in the first two weeks of May 2021.

Floorball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world today, with nearly 70 countries participating in the International Floorball Federation (IFF).  The home page for the IFF can be found at https://floorball.sport. While similar games have been played for years in different parts of the world, modern floorball rules and administration were first established in Sweden in 1979.  Today, over 3 million players play floorball recreationally.

The United States Floorball Association was founded in 1994 and has been devoted to growing the game in the US.  Today, active leagues and clubs can be found in all parts of the country, and their numbers are growing.  As part of their mission, USA Floorball operates five national teams, in both adult and U19 for both men and women, and U16 for boys and girls.  Each year, two WFC events are held, one for U19, and one for adults.  This year’s WFC events feature the Men’s U19 Championship in Halifax in May, and Women’s Championship in Switzerland this December.

The U19 Men placed 14th in Halifax, beating Japan in a thrilling pool game with 1.8 seconds remaining to advance to the 13th place game, where they lost to Canada.  This year, Head Coach Joel Olofsson returns to guide his squad in two full years of preparation!  In the past, we have not gotten started until less than one year prior to the tournament.  The team has already competed at the US National Championships in Lynchburg, Virginia, as part of the State Games of America.  They finished 8th out of 12 teams in the elite division, and also played a key exhibition game against the U19 Women’s National Team as well.

The General Manager of the team is Brian Radichel, from Flower Mound, Texas.  “I am excited to pick up where Kenton Walker left off and not let off the gas at all,” he said.  “This team and this program is building excitement, and youth floorball is growing around the United States.  I feel confident that we can continue to spread the game and develop new young players who will represent the United States at the highest junior level in internation floorball.”

Like many sports in the US, the team is self-funded and relies on donations to help offset the cost of the travel, lodging, and entry fees.  Interested companies can contact Brian Radichel, General Manager, at brian.radichel@usfba.org.  Since USA Floorball is a 501(c)(3) organization, all donations are tax-deductible.
