Team USA's final game was against Canada in a pure North American showdown. Canada came out strong and where able to score two unanswered goals in the first period. The US team was clearly still on the bus to the arena and weren't able to answer the Canadians energy in the first.
In the period break coach Stefan Hedlund woke the team up, and how! Team USA came out with a renewed energy and started turning the game around. With a man advantage Jesse Andersson finds captain Kalle Förare who whips the ball into the net, 1-2. And a few minutes later Ryan Winkler evens the score at 2-2. Now the tides are starting to turn and after 11:59 of the second Alexander McVey runs in from the right and places the ball just under excellent Canadian goaltender Taylor Retta-Shipp's hand, 3-2. After 13:01 Kalle Förare scores his second giving the US team a 4-2 lead. Before the period is over the Canadian's Joel Inouye bring the Canadian to 4-3 going into the third period.
In the third the teams exchange chances but Terence Frank in the US goal stands strong until the US can score again. After 9:44 of the third Mattias Hansen extends the US lead to 5-3. But just as the clock is winding down the Canadian's biggest star Lauri Hannelius scores with an amazing shot from the point.
In the final minute of the game the Canadians pull their goalie for a final push but are not able to score. Team USA win by 5-4.
This gives team USA an 11th position at the World Floorball Champions their best finish ever!
