The U.S team where solid in their first game of the World Floorball Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Team USA faced off against Korea and went up by 2-0 after goals by defenceman Michael Binder and forward Randall AA.
Initially the game was pretty even and well fought but as the game moved on the U.S. squad took over more and more. 2-0 after one period turned to 10-0 after two. The second period saw two goals by captain Kalle Förare as well as by rookie Robin Brown.
Korea picked up their game in the third period and the final result was 12-2.
- It was really exciting to see the great floorball skills we showed in the second period, says headcoach Stefan Hedlund.
Team USA has lofty goals in mind but are trying to stay grounded.
- The goal is to be better than 12th but the dream quarterfinal against Sweden is on many minds. But we must remember it takes more than one good game to reach the quarterfinals, Stefan Hedlund concludes.
The next U.S. game will be against Japan on Monday the 8th at 13:30 CET and can be seen live here.
