The U.S. Women lost their first World Championship qualifier game against Canada yesterday as they where bested by 7-4 at the Cornell Community Center in Markham, Canada.
Canada scored early in the first period and again early in the second and had a 2-0 lead.
The U.S. are not a team to be taken lightly which they showed as they rallied back to score twice in the remainder of the period through Marie Häggström. Canada did scored twice in the period though and could retain the lead, 3-2 after two.
In the beginning of the third however U.S. player Karolina Wattwil evened it out at 3-3.
Minutes later Canada retook the lead before Marie Häggström completed her hattrick and tied up the game at 4-4.
But in the last ten minutes the Canadians found the net three times to take the game 7-4.
This means that the U.S. team need to take the next game by four to be set for the World Floorball Championship playoffs. A far from impossible task.
