For the first time since the loss against Hungary in the 2015 U19 WFC, Team USA is about to take on Hungary once again. After the shocking 12-3 defeat two years ago, the United States is looking for nothing but revenge. Only a handful of players on this year's roster were present in 2015 for the loss against an opponent which may have been underestimated. That is a mistake that will not happen again.
This time around, Team USA is better prepared for the intense battle that is to come. Besides better understanding the potential of the Hungarian team, USA Floorball has also selected more experienced players in comparison to two years ago. Players who are able to match Team Hungary when it comes to skills, physical strength and overall performance. All in all, the U.S players know the importance of winning the first game in the group stage of the U19 WFC.
U.S goaltending coach Lars Halvardsson knows that the performance of the goalies may very well determine the outcome or the game. "We expect a team like Hungary to shoot a lot so it's important that our goalies are both mentally and physically prepared for that. And I believe that they are. But it's going to be a tough one."
