USA Floorball Adds Y16 National Team

The Board of Directors of USA Floorball has decided to create an Under 16 Youth National Team for both boys and girls.

In order to promote youth development in general and national team players in particular, USA Floorball has decided to create an Under 16 Youth National Team, consisting of both boys and girls.  As part of the strategic plan, the Y16 team is looking at participating at youth events in countries such as Singapore, Sweden and the Czech Republic.  Initial contacts have already been made with the organizers of Singapore Open, Storvreta Cup and Gothia Cup.  There are also plans to play in the youth division at the US Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama in the Fall of 2020.

"An Under 16 National Team for boys and girls will enable a pipeline of quality players into both of our Under 19 programs", says Anders Buvarp, who works for USA Floorball as national teams coordinator.

Furthermore, the Board decided to appoint Daniel Williamsson of Orlando, Florida as the team's General Manager.  Daniel has been involved with Floorball in Sweden since the 1980s, playing in various organizations and developing a love for the sport hardly being able to put down the stick.    When he moved to Florida for his Masters' degree, he brought Floorball with him and started an adult group.  In 2017, Daniel decided to take the next step and started Orlando Vikings Floorball.  He now has an established youth group in Orlando and working on expanding to Daytona, Kissimmee, Lakeland, Melbourne, Panhandle and Deerfield Beach areas.   As a Regional Director for USA Floorball, Daniel actively promotes Floorball to hockey communities and has established contacts with schools throughout Florida.

"We are still very much in the beginning stages, but with continued active work, I believe we can be very successful promoting Floorball in the USA.  I am extremely excited about youth floorball in the USA and looking forward to making the Y16 program a tremendous success for USA Floorball", says Daniel Williamsson.
