WFCQ and Texas Open are Postponed!

WFCQ and Texas Open are Postponed!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak the tough decision had been made to postpone the WFCQ and the Texas Open that were scheduled for February.

Following a recommendation by the Canadian COVID-19 Health Services and the Public Health Agency of Canada, the IFF, Floorball Canada, and USA Floorball have decided that due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, the 2022 WFCQ will be rescheduled to ensure the health and safety of all participants. This decision was difficult and comes following a surge in positive case in both Canada and the US.

The Canadian COVID-19 Health Services and the Public Health Agency of Canada have issued strong travel advisories for international travel and potential quarantine on return to Canada if COVID positive.

This reschedule impacts all the actives planned around the WFCQ. USA Floorball has been working together with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) from NTFA in planning an amazing event at the beautiful and world-class facilities at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas.

USA Floorball will work together with NTFA, IFF and TCU to announce the new dates as soon as they are agreed upon by all parties. One of the biggest activities that will be impacted is the Texas Open Floorball tournament.

This year the Texas Open will be played in the same facilities at TCU and on the famous flooring from Gerflor/Taraflex, making the Texas Open a World-Class event for everyone participating.

"USA Floorball together with Floorball Canada and the IFF have not come to this decision lightly. Our goal has always been first and foremost to protect the health and safety of our players and to maintain the full integrity of our sport. We sympathize with the organizers of IIHF World Junior Championship and have learned from their situation that we need to run these events carefully, with consideration of the current status of the COVID-19 virus. While we are disappointed that we cannot run the WFCQ event on the planned dates, we also look forward to the date when we can showcase what Fort Worth has to offer to the Floorball world with its unique heritage of Texas country and cowboy culture, still living and breathing throughout the community. The facilities at TCU are simply amazing and we have never had an opportunity to showcase the sport in a facility like this in the US before, so that aspect of this event will be off the charts as well. This will be an amazing event for anyone attending, definitely something you will never forget," says USA Floorball president, Calle Karlsson.

Updates, new dates and any other information will provided as soon as they are available in the USA Floorball channels.
