USA Floorball is thrilled to announce Sara Alexandersson as the new Women’s National Team Manager. Sara joined the Women’s Team staff in 2024 and brings a strong passion for the sport. “We are incredibly lucky to have Sara on our staff as she offers professionalism, dedication, and strategy to the position. She is an absolute go-getter and has a fresh perspective on how to grow the sport on the women’s side,” states Team General Manager, Alyssa Zinsser Hall.
Hailing from Sweden, Sara began playing floorball at the age of 11 with her hometown club, Rottne IF. At 15, she made her debut with Rottne IF's women’s team in the senior league. As her skills developed, she advanced to different clubs before returning to lead Rottne IF as captain for a couple of years. Her peak came at 21, when she played at the elite level with Hovshaga IF, Växjö, in the second-highest league in Sweden, considered one of the strongest leagues globally at the time. After a couple of seasons with Hovshaga IF, she put the stick on the shelf due to a couple of stubborn hamstring injuries.
As the Team Manager, Sara looks forward to supporting and leading the team from the sidelines during international competitions and potentially contributing on the field in domestic events, where her U.S. status allows her to play.
Having grown up in the world's leading country in floorball she is excited to bring her experience and knowledge to the U.S. Women’s National Floorball Team. “With my background in leadership and management, along with my current role working with leadership development for Yale University, School of Medicine I believe I can provide professional leadership to the team,” Sara explains.
Sara is thinking big and making plans not just for the Women’s program. She is particularly eager to help elevate the sport's profile in the U.S. and drive its growth. To do so, she will work on increasing the team’s digital presence, leveraging her expertise in social media and fan engagement to raise awareness of floorball in the country. “I believe that by enhancing our online visibility and starting conversations around floorball, we can create a vibrant community around the sport. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire the next generation of players and promote floorball as a fun and accessible sport for all,” Sara asserts.
Sara will make her international competition debut with Team USA in Austin, Texas during the upcoming Women’s World Floorball Championship Qualifiers held March 8-10, 2025. Come out and support our players, and say hi to Sara!
