Doug Kimball has been named an Assistant Coach to the United States Men’s Under 19 Team by Head Coach Derek Moser and General Manager Keene Addington.
Doug started playing hockey when he was 12 years old on his friend's pond. He played in high school and in college (ACHA DII) - assistant captain for both levels. He is a level 4 USA Hockey certified coach. He also coached high school ice hockey in 1997-2013 with a 4 year stint at BYU (ACHA DII), 2005-09, as an assistant coach.
A coworker introduced Doug to floorball in August 2016 at a tournament in Utah. His first out-of-state tournament was with Utah Floorball Club in 2018 at the Golden Gate Cup, winning the Most Inspirational Player Award. Doug also started coaching floorball in 2018 – He was assigned the Utah teenagers in the Utah adult league, ultimately winning the local league championship. Three of those teenagers went on to play for the USA U19 Men's Floorball team and in the NAFL. He has also coached U14 and U16 floorball teams for Utah and has placed Bronze, Silver and Gold in several youth tournaments across the nation. Kimball was also part of the inaugural season of the NAFL on the Utah Raptors (player and goalie).
Says Doug, “I'm really looking forward to working with the USA U19 Men's Floorball team. I love the USA. I love sports. I love coaching. I love seeing people improve in any and every aspect in sport and life. Teenagers are the most rewarding to coach. They seem to make the biggest strides in realizing their potential.”
