Rivalry Renewed as Team USA and Canada Battle for a Spot at the Women's World Floorball Championship.
The road to the Women's World Floorball Championship (WFC) 2025 runs through Austin, Texas, as Team USA readies itself for a best-of-three showdown against Canada from March 8-10. With a place at the World Championships on the line, the squad is eager to put its talent, skill, and determination on full display—this time, with home-court advantage.
Backed by their own crowd, Team USA is embracing the moment. “Having the public with us and adding that little extra push to do well will only benefit the team,” said USA co-coach Michaël Grandchamp, a two-time champion before stepping into his role with Team USA. Co-coach Frédéric Bernabo echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the value of home-court energy as the team prepares for a crucial test. “Pressure might be there, but we’re athletes and can deal with it.”
Roster & Team History
The 2025 World Floorball Championships will take place later this year in Brno and Ostrava, Czech Republic, and Team USA is looking to build on its strong history of success. The program boasts nine championship appearances and has been particularly dominant in recent qualifiers, winning the last four consecutive WFC matchups against Canada.
But the rivalry has intensified. This past summer, Canada flipped the script, defeating Team USA in The World Games Qualifiers —a result that has only sharpened the Americans' focus.
Now, with a full-strength roster and the home crowd behind them, Team USA is preparing to reclaim control.
“As far as preparation is concerned, I think this time we have the full team, talented and ready to compete,” said Grandchamp.
That loss has only strengthened the team’s determination. “The results will be different,” Bernabo said. With years of coaching experience at various levels, including leading the Belgian Women’s National Team, he is confident this squad is ready to play.
